Portfolio building

And the best news of the week goes to landing my Cosmopolitan (Singapore) internship. Come May, I will officially be running errands, ironing clothes for photoshoots, going for food tasting events that my editors might not have the time to go for, rubbing shoulders with possible industry contacts, writing articles (fingers crossed!), jumping right back into the physically hectic life that is reminiscent of mass comm days, and best of all, living out a childhood ambition. Beyond stoked for the opportunity of a lifetime.
As much as Advertising will always be my first love, there is something very methodical about Journalism that will always be weirdly alluring, but yet does not restrict my freedom of expression. My favourite part though, has got to be the interviewing of people from all walks of life. Isn’t it fascinating delving into people’s thoughts and knowing the mind of a stranger is fully yours for a few minutes of their lives? Qualitative research amazes me to no end. #g33k
I’ll also be doing voice recording for the NUS Baba House next week. ‘tis all very new to me, because I have zero theatre experience - although I made sure it didn’t show when I went for the auditions. They asked and I had to sheepishly offer my award in the Radio Presentation module in poly as an alternative. Turns out I might not have needed the save because I got a part! And a wonderful CapitaLand voucher to boot. Spiffy.
This semester I focus less on school and more on what I will do after I graduate, which, if my grades don’t cut it for Honours year, would be in the disturbingly near December of 2013. Frightening.
